Maria Sky (1997) living and working in

Portrait of young multimedia artist Maria Sky with cello in her installation "Spazio dei Mille spazi", Cesena, Italy, 2024 artist statement

In my art, I explore the relationships between
space, nature, and human presence, perceiving
space as a living entity and collaborator.
Nature and technology intertwine in my work, with
materials like seeds, mycelium, and stars merging
with tools like augmented reality and AI.

These elements create a dialogue between growth
and decay, the eternal and the fleeting.

My goal is to liberate spaces and objects of
my research from their imposed limits, inviting
viewers to slow down, reflect and reimagine their
connection to the world.

Bio

Born in 1997 in a family of physicists, I started my artistic careerat 5 in Russia as a cellist.
In 19, I moved to the field of visual arts in search for
more freedom and space for self-expression in Italy.

I am a chaotic artist: choosing to be free from the
confines of one specific technique, I use different ones,
such as sculpture, installations, photography, video,
CGI, and others, based on the needs of the project.

In my art, I concentrate on relationship between
nature and humanity, concepts of space and freedom.
I always tend to capture and show the invisible and to liberate
delicately the objects of my research from the existing limits
